So many of you drive or bike past, or see this sign out the bus window, or while walking your child or your dog down Cow Bay Road. We are so glad you see our messages, and we look forward to hearing what YOU are thinking. But not just about what we have to say – what is it that YOU would like to say to the world? Please note, this doesn’t necessarily mean we will put it on our sign….though if you’d like to give us permission, we just might do that occasionally. We regret there’s not room to give credit to all the witty people who come up with these (only so many words…)
The second question is this: What DO you say to the world each day? Do you have a message? Probably each one of us does. We may not realize it, but what we say and do, or what we don’t say and do each day communicates something to the people we live with, work with and hang out with.
“…in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
That’s from the Bible, in a book called “1st Peter” (chapter 3, verses 15-16). It reminds me of the kind of message we want to give as believers in Jesus — that there is hope for this life and the next life, because of the gift of life that God gives to each one of us through His Son Jesus Christ. Lots of people have experienced hopelessness and anxiety, but now know the peace and blessing only God can give. These people are challenged to be ready, when asked, to explain their hope, in a gentle and respectful way.
I hope this hope, and the way we share its message, is an encouragement to you as you live your life this week.
God bless you!
